The Skyless ForestHer amber eyes flicked open, adjusting to the brightness of the world around her.
"Where am I?" She thought.
Then she remembered.
She got up, feeling slightly giddy as the blood flowed from her head to her legs. Grass poked between her toes, tickling her bare feet. She noticed she was wearing some sort of night gown, it was white, with frilly bits at her wrists. She soon became aware of her surroundings, the same creek trikled to her left, but there were fewer plants, the rock-table was missing. The violet sky was missing, replaced by what she saw as an absence, of everything. Unsettled by this, she made for the creek, to attempt to fix and clean her wild hair, that had gained some hitchhikers.
She completed the task, and examined herself in a pool of water, feeling happy with herself for doing such a good job. Her hair hung down the length of her neck, and had begun to grow over her shoulders. The reflection of nothingness, made the water seem opaque, and it's surface was pitch-black, almost as if to remind her of the emptyness above her. She walked away from the stream, keeping her eyes low to avoid seeming the emptiness above towards the forest that lay before her. She marveled at the tree canopy that lay in the distance for a moment, then took a step into the unknown.
